Rebecca & Fiona

November 27, 2011

A few weeks ago I posted about Laing, a German 4 piece who I thought could be either the next blue light MTV special or Deutschland’s new underground indie-electronic vixens, not sure which. That’s kind of how I feel about Rebecca & Fiona, I can’t tell if they’re gonna be on the cover of the next Seventeen mag or if they’re busy taste-making for all the Swedish hipsters (my guess is Seventeen mag). Their new album I Love You Man has everything from banger club anthems to electro pop ballads. Truth is I like poppy stuff because it makes my head bob, so I approve (of most of the tracks). Point being mainstream music in Europe sometimes resembles what we consider indie/underground stuff on this side of the pond.

Here’s what they say about themselves:

A shared interest in great music brought the two girls together. Rebecca Scheja and Fiona Fitzpatrick not only reign Stockholm’s club scene, they have become icons for a whole generation of Swedes and represent what hard work combined with talent can do…Donʼt let their beauty and glamorous public life fool you. Rebecca and Fiona are dedicated musicians who spend more time trying to nail loops in the basement of their recording studio than to splash champagne at trendy nightclubs.

They are the “Anti” Patience & Prudence! Youtube ’em and you’ll see what I mean. their music and mixes are really danceable and have ‘ear- worm’ attractiveness. They do make creepy videos, though.
