sayCet Sooths Even the Most Savage Beast

September 3, 2010

The first time I caught wind of French outfit sayCet was when they released a series of remixes that offered an interesting take on a few indie pop tracks.  Instead of the typical practice of taking a pop song and adding an electro or disco beat, sayCet did the opposite.  They turned songs like ‘Nightdrive With You’ by Anoraak and ‘Hey You’ by Pony Pony Run Run into atmospheric piano and xylophone-driven ballads.  I thought it was unique and cute.  Originally the project of producer Pierre Lefeuvre, sayCet is joined by vocalist Phoene Somsavath for a second full-length album Through the Window proving to me that their ambient style easily transferred to their original compositions.  We have for you today some of those re-inventive remixes as well as two cuts off their latest release.
